North Channel Honeymoon Sail Day 2

7-17-16

Day two of our Honeymoon sail found our boat stuck on the trailer in the trailer parking lot due to a leak/leaks. We are in Spanish Ontario with no power to the marina and no stores at all open in the a town. None of the stores there  probably didn't have a chance of having any fast setting epoxy anyway.
After getting cleaned up by flashlights in the marina bathrooms we headed east to Sundbry Ontario in search of an open hardware store or some place that might sell epoxy. On the way we came to the town of Massey and stopped to see if we could find some food as neither one of us had any dinner the night before and we both felt like our blood cell count was quite a bit lower due to the attack of the killer mosquitos!
We pulled into the Dragon Fly Resturante but they were closed. That seems to be the theme for the day. On down the street we stumbled across the Bistro which luckily was open. It turned out to be a great find as the breakfast was really good. The ham I had may have been the best flavored piece of ham that I had ever had. Cindy said her breakfast was really good as well.
If you are a regular reader then you know already how awesome Cindy is. She is unlike anyone I have ever met before. After a evening and night truly straight out of hell, she still had her sense of humor. Never more evident than when she says my name for me to turn around. Here is how I found her,

You have to love a lady with a sense of humor. I think she may have been testing me to see if I was completely over my come apart. If I laughed all was good. If I melted down again, not so good LOL. I had to laugh but did say we need to add the words "from Hell" on the bottom of the pillow.
We continued onto Sudbury and finally found the Walmart. No epoxy but we did pick up a few things we needed and we did find out there were big box stores on the north side of town in addition to the store that sold that pillow case in the above pic. Cindy really wanted the pillow and I still needed supplies to work on the boat so north across the bridge of nations we went. We found Lowes which was right behind the store Cindy wanted to check out so we both went shopping. I found all I thought I would need for what little I could do and picked Cindy up before we headed back to Spanish.
Back in Spanish we found the power, excuse me, the Hydro had been restored and our boat was still there. I left the tongue unlocked on the trailer hoping someone would steal it but no such luck. I started working on the boat wile Cindy went and showered in the marina. I knew what I was doing was a long shot as I did not hold out much hope that I was going to be able to fix the leak but I was just hoping I could slow it down if nothing else. Not only were the bolts leaking but it looked like water was coming up from the bottom of the hull. So I sanded and cleaned then mixed up the fast dry epoxy. After inhaling lacquer thinner fumes for 20 mins I was feeling much better. I went down to shower while I left the epoxy to dry. I met Cindy on my way down and she said the showers were awesome with lots of hot water. Finally something goes our way. I took a nice shower and she was right, they were very nice and there was even a sauna. Once back to the boat it was starting to drizzle so we decided to head off in search of food for dinner and let the boat air out a bit.
We went back east to Massey to the Dragon Fly Resturante again and this time it was open so we decided to give it a try. Dinner there was really pretty good as well and they had a very wide and varied menu. It was a very small place and I have no idea how they were able to have so many choices on their menu but we were easily able to find something we both liked. Again, our food was very good and we made conversation with an older couple who were down visiting their river cabin from Sudbury. They were very nice and entertaining to talk with.
On the way back to the boat I picked up a scented candle to burn in the boat in hopes of freshening it up a bit and maybe warming it up a bit as the rain was a steady drizzle and the temps had dropped. It wasn't cold but it was none too warm for shorts either. Back at the boat we curled up in the V birth and watch a movie or two on the tablet.
Day two of North Channel adventure was nothing like I had planned or hoped for but yet it was still fun. I was with Cindy and that is really all that mattered to me. Even the problems with the boat seemed like a minor hiccup at this point. I went to sleep holding my incredible lil wife in my arms hoping that maybe tomorrow might bring us better luck on the water.
